I’ve been making trichromes for the #1990sCameraChallenge using early digital cameras like the 1998 Sony Mavica MVC-FD81 and the 2000 Sony DSC-F505V. These have been fascinating to do, of course, but the quality has been a little … lacking. So this time I wanted to use a better quality camera to see if the qualityContinue reading “Some not so #ShittyDigital infrared trichromes, 18 December 2022”

Infrared trichromes with the Sony DSC-F505V, 10 December 2022
Some trichromes for the #MillenniumCameraChallenge using the Sony DSC-F505V. I created a normal trichrome with red, green and blue filters then made a digital aerochrome with an infrared filter, a red filter and a green filter for the red, green and blue layers, respectively. I also made an infrared trichrome using a infrared, green andContinue reading “Infrared trichromes with the Sony DSC-F505V, 10 December 2022”
Infrared trichromes with the Sony Mavica MVC-FD81, 10 December 2022
A little while ago I was trying to make some trichromes with the Sony Mavica MVC-FD81. At the time I also took an infrared image using the 720nm Infrared filter, but I thought that the image was so poor that it could never be used for a trichrome. However, some sage advice from a masterContinue reading “Infrared trichromes with the Sony Mavica MVC-FD81, 10 December 2022”
A rather dull trichrome of the roundabout outside our house, 08 December 2022
I sourced some Sony Memory Sticks to go with the Sony DSC-F505V. The seller was actually selling a Sony Cybershot DSC-P73, a 4MP camera from 2004, but was including the Sticks as a part of the package. Personally, I consider that I paid 10€ for the memory sticks and received a free camera. It arrivedContinue reading “A rather dull trichrome of the roundabout outside our house, 08 December 2022”
Today I’ve been making some (really) #shittytrichrome, 03 December 2022
Today I thought I would try some digital trichromes with the Sony Mavica MVC-FD81. To make trichromes I set the camera to black and white and took three photographs, using the red, green and blue Lomography filters. The images were processed with GIMP photo editor using each image as a layer for red, green andContinue reading “Today I’ve been making some (really) #shittytrichrome, 03 December 2022”
Today I’ve been experimenting with #trichrome, 26 November 2022
I’ve had some red, green and blue filters knocking around for ages, but never got around to using them. Today I thought I would try some digital trichromes with the Nikon Coolpix 990, a 3MP digital camera from the year 2000. First of all I set the camera to the ‘Rec M’ setting which rememberedContinue reading “Today I’ve been experimenting with #trichrome, 26 November 2022”
Checking out the infrared capability of the Nikon Coolpix 990, 25 November 2022
I’ve been suffering from GAS again. This time it’s this unusual looking camera, the Nikon Coolpix 990 from 2000. I actually wanted the first of this range of cameras, the 900, for the #ShittyCameraChallenge #1990sCameraChallenge but I couldn’t find it. So this one will have to do (and I’m actually very happy with it). OfContinue reading “Checking out the infrared capability of the Nikon Coolpix 990, 25 November 2022”
Out with the modded Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ8 for some digital infrared, 10 November 2022
It’s been a while since I have been able to take some digital infrared photographs, but this morning the weather was ideal.
Infrared cloudscapes, 04 June 2022
Between rainstorms I took the opportunity to take some rubbish to the bin (here there are large communal bins rather than individual bins for each house) and noticed clouds behind the neighbours’ orchard. I grabbed a quick photo on my phone but just knew it would be a treat in infrared. I took a fewContinue reading “Infrared cloudscapes, 04 June 2022”
Digital infrared with the modded Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ8, 06 May 2022
After the full spectrum modification of the Lumix DMC-TZ8, I took it out for a test drive with the Hoya 720nm IR filter. On the whole I was delighted with the quality of the infrared images created.
The fire break, 24 April 2022
The local authority cut a fire break through the woodland to minimise the risk of wildfires spreading. Infrared photograph with modified Canon Powershot A1400 and 720nm Infrared filter.
Digital infrared with the modded A1400, 06 April 2022
Popped out to the shops today and as it was lovely and clear I thought, why not take the Powershot A1400 and do some digital infrared?
Digital infrared on a windy day, 01 April 2022
After a cloudy start it turned into a clear but windy day. Still, it was an opportunity to take out the DSLR and R72 filter for some infrared photography.
Infrared street photography in Águas Boas, 19 March 2022
It was a lovely sunny day again, so it was a chance to take the R72 IR filter to Águas Boas for some infrared urban photography. These images are taken from the JPGs rather than using the RAW files and were processed in SnapSeed. They came out rather well.
Experiments with Infrared, 18 March 2022
I’ve been wanting to dabble with infrared (IR) photography for a while. The last time was in the early 1980s, with Kodak’s famous infrared film, but that’s not been available for a long time. I bought a little Canon digital to turn into a full-spectrum camera (more about that soon) but in the meantime IContinue reading “Experiments with Infrared, 18 March 2022”
#shittycamerachallenge — Afternoon in the park, 7 January 2022
Finally have the images back from our afternoon in the park with Diana F+ for the #ShittyCameraChallenge. My attempts at image stacking were a dismal failure, mind.
Afternoon in the park, 7 January 2022
Out in Oiã with the Diana F+ for the #shittycamerachallenge, we went to the town’s park. These photos are similar to the ones we will hopefully get next week when the film is developed.
Autumn leaves, 17 November 2021
The fallen leaves have dried in the November sun.
