We’re off on our annual pilgrimage to Meco. After a casual and uneventful journey we arrived at our holiday home before resting and heading out for a bite to eat at the best restaurant in Alfarim, the Tasca do Marcio. #coast, #coastline, #landscape, #bridhe, #nature, #old, #portugal, #portuguese, #sea, #lisboa, #street, #town, #traditional, #travel, #village,Continue reading “Ferias 2022: Day 0, 25 July 2022”
On a cloudy day I took out the Agfa Preisbox loaded with Lomography Redscale film. The subject for the day was Pole-arity, I felt that the cloudy skies with electricity poles would complement the Redscale film adequately. The Preisbox was a joy to handle, compared with the stiffness of the Kodak Brownie, and I reckonContinue reading “#OldCameraChallenge, the Agfa Preisbox (Part 2)”
On the first weekend of the Feira da Março in Aveiro, we took the Agfa Click-1 and some Lomography ISO 100 Colour film to the fairground for some multiple exposures and microclick panoramas. #Agfa, #Click-1, #Camera, #classic, #film, #OCC22, #OldCameraChallenge, #old, #photography, #Retro, #vintage, #Lomography,
The second camera in the #OldCameraChallenge is the Agfa Preisbox. I’ve been a bit slow in continuing with the challenge as current events, first the continuing pandemic and lately Putin’s unwarranted attack on Ukraine have been very demotivating. The Agfa 44 box camera, known as the Preisbox, was first introduced in 1933 and was madeContinue reading “#OldCameraChallenge, the Agfa Preisbox (Part 1)”
The dust from the Saharan storms are creating a strange yellow light in the skies over Portugal. On the way home I came across a gate I had never noticed before so it seemed like a nice theme for the morning: hidden and forgotten gates.
The final part of the restoration of the Brownie N°2 camera was painting the bodywork. Using black enamel paint and a fine brush paint was applied around the edges of the door and on the viewfinder and around the lens on the front plate. After a couple of days drying the viewfinder glass and theContinue reading “#OldCameraChallenge, the Kodak Brownie N°2, Model F (Part 3)”
The Brownie N°2 camera from the outlet box has clearly seen better days. Dating from the early 1920s, the camera is getting on for one hundred years old now, and although it functions nicely the shutter is a little stiff and the bodywork needs some attention. The leatherette is quite worn, and in some placesContinue reading “#OldCameraChallenge, the Kodak Brownie N°2, Model F (Part 2)”
The Brownie N°2 camera was introduced in 1901. The early model Brownies were a leatherette covered box but the Model F, released in 1924, had an aluminum case and a tripod socket. Like all of the Brownie N°2 cameras the model uses 120 roll film to give a 6×9cm frame. The No.2 Brownie is significantContinue reading “#OldCameraChallenge, the Kodak Brownie N°2, Model F (Part 1)”
Tucked away in the back streets of Oliveira do Bairro are these derelict buildings. Behind the building the taggers have been busy.
Peeling paint from the doors of an abandoned house in Oliveira do Bairro, Portugal.
The front door of the large abandoned house in Oliveira do Bairro is a wonderfully ornate structure, now left decaying and rusting. The house must have been wonderful in its heyday, possibly with dinners and lavish parties, for the size of the building and the structure inside (yes, I snuck inside briefly, but don’t tellContinue reading “The front door, 2 December 2021”
This house opposite the post office in Oliveira has been abandoned for decades. On the front someone has stencilled, ‘they have guns, but we have flowers,’ a reference to the 1974 carnation revolution in Portugal that overthrew the fascist government.

Off to Coimbra by train. Always a great way to travel.
Out for a walk playing with panoramas there’s always time to capture the unique Textures of old and rusting gates.
There’s a house in Águas Boas that has been abandoned for nigh on twenty years. Derelict on the inside, outside it has a unique hand-made wooden door that just screams, ‘restore me!’

This house in Meco has been abandoned for decades and is beginning to collapse. However, the ivy-covered door with its beautiful cast knocker is a joy to behold. https://keithdevereux.blogspot.com/2021/08/abandoned-in-meco-24-august-2021.html
Instead of going to the beach, today we took a short trip to nearby Sesimbra. https://keithdevereux.blogspot.com/2021/08/day-trip-to-sesimbra-9-august-2021.html
