It’s a bugs life, 09 August 2022
It’s not a real holiday if I don’t spend at least a part of it chasing a bug across the sand … http://keithdevereux.blogspot.com/2022/08/its-bugs-life-09-august-2022.html
Hidden from the world, 07 August 2022
Tucked away half way up the cliff we traverse to get to the beach, and camouflaged against potential threats and also it’s prey, is this magnificent beast. I have no idea what species it is, but isn’t it wonderful? Every day for the past week and a half, at least, I’ve been trying to getContinue reading “Hidden from the world, 07 August 2022”

It’s #flyday Friday, 26 November 2021
Welcome to #FlyDay #fliesarebeautiful This wasp was sluggishly crawling across the pavement in the midday sun. Normally I wouldn’t get near it, but the weather was still cold, so he was not very active.
Resting dragonfly, 12 October 2021
This dragonfly probably flew into the shade accidentally. Fortunately we were able to encourage it back into the sunshine.

As the sun rises in the garden, it’s time for some to enjoy a sweet breakfast.
Interlude: A visitor to the garden
Last year we had a cricket, I think it was a cricket, that was hurt and spent weeks in the rose bush in our garden. This morning I found another, who I followed around the garden, from the house wall to the same rosebush. For a brief time, s/he also found a little friend, beforeContinue reading “Interlude: A visitor to the garden”
Before we went to the beach…
…I had a chance for a little early-morning bee chasing…
Out for a walk last week…
…and this fabulous dragonfly alighted on a nearby bush. For a change, it wasn’t skittish, and I had a grand opportunity for some insect shots.
A wasp after the rain
We had a most ferocious rainstorm, and afterward I spotted this wasp taking a drink from the drops on a rosebush. Trying to get closer, I disturbed his libations, but then he turned around and looked like he was drying to dry himself off. It wasn’t until I prepared the images I realised quite howContinue reading “A wasp after the rain”
For a few days last week, we adopted a little friend…
We were clearing the garden and I rescued this cricket (I think it’s a cricket) from being binned with the garden waste. We moved it to a safer place and it was growing nicely, but then it rained and rained, and the pour soul couldn’t fly off. Eventually, after five days, the weather cleared up,Continue reading “For a few days last week, we adopted a little friend…”
