A little bit of digital pinhole with the Thingyfy Pinhole Pro S, 01 May 2023

It was World Pinhole Day last weekend but I realised far too late to take part. I had one idea, though, to take a body cap for my micro four thirds Olympus Pen E-PL1 mirrorless camera and fix a Reality So Subtle pinhole that I have knocking around.  Unfortunately, I couldn’t find the body cap,Continue reading “A little bit of digital pinhole with the Thingyfy Pinhole Pro S, 01 May 2023”

First outing with Lomochrome Turquoise and the Holga 120N, 15 March 2023

About six months ago, in October 2022, I discovered the existence of Holga Week. I was really impressed with the images that artists were getting with this cheap toy camera and really wanted to participate. The only snag was, I didn’t have a Holga. I started searching on OLX, a popular classified ad site inContinue reading “First outing with Lomochrome Turquoise and the Holga 120N, 15 March 2023”

Fun with false colour, 03 March 2023

I came across a fascinating article about making your own Kolari-type Chrome filter for false colour infrared.  https://hiddenrealms.ch/how-to-build-your-own-ir-chrome-filter/ This got me thinking about how my self-converted full-spectrum Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ8 would behave with different filters, and as it started out such a lovely day I spent a half hour or so playing with different filters.

A digital trichrome created using the Nintendo Gameboy and Gameboy Pocket Camera, 09 January 2023

So here it is. For the #1990sCameraChallenge #ShittyCameraChallenge a trichrome funtograph from the #GameboyCamera. I took three photographs of the same image with the Gameboy holding a red, a green and a blue filter in front of the Pocket camera lens. Once complete, I downloaded the images from the Gameboy Pocket camera using the GBContinue reading “A digital trichrome created using the Nintendo Gameboy and Gameboy Pocket Camera, 09 January 2023”

Some not so #ShittyDigital infrared trichromes, 18 December 2022

I’ve been making trichromes for the #1990sCameraChallenge using early digital cameras like the 1998 Sony Mavica MVC-FD81 and the 2000 Sony DSC-F505V. These have been fascinating to do, of course, but the quality has been a little … lacking.  So this time I wanted to use a better quality camera to see if the qualityContinue reading “Some not so #ShittyDigital infrared trichromes, 18 December 2022”

Infrared trichromes with the Sony DSC-F505V, 10 December 2022

Some trichromes for the #MillenniumCameraChallenge using the Sony DSC-F505V. I created a normal trichrome with red, green and blue filters  then made a digital aerochrome with an infrared filter, a red filter and a green filter for the red, green and blue layers, respectively.  I also made an infrared trichrome using a infrared, green andContinue reading “Infrared trichromes with the Sony DSC-F505V, 10 December 2022”

Infrared trichromes with the Sony Mavica MVC-FD81, 10 December 2022

A little while ago I was trying to make some trichromes with the Sony Mavica MVC-FD81. At the time I also took an infrared image using the 720nm Infrared filter, but I thought that the image was so poor that it could never be used for a trichrome.  However, some sage advice from a masterContinue reading “Infrared trichromes with the Sony Mavica MVC-FD81, 10 December 2022”

More dull trichromes of the roundabout outside our house, 09 December 2022

After the fun yesterday with the Sony Cybershot DSC-P73, I thought it might be nice to try some #ShittyDigital trichromes of the roundabout with the Sony Mavica MVC-FD81. It was another very dull day, but one day, I know, I’ll get a lovely trichrome blue sky.

A rather dull trichrome of the roundabout outside our house, 08 December 2022

I sourced some Sony Memory Sticks to go with the Sony DSC-F505V. The seller was actually selling a Sony Cybershot DSC-P73, a 4MP camera from 2004, but was including the Sticks as a part of the package. Personally, I consider that I paid 10€ for the memory sticks and received a free camera. It arrivedContinue reading “A rather dull trichrome of the roundabout outside our house, 08 December 2022”

Today I’ve been making some (really) #shittytrichrome, 03 December 2022

Today I thought I would try some digital trichromes with the Sony Mavica MVC-FD81. To make trichromes I set the camera to black and white and took three photographs, using the red, green and blue Lomography filters. The images were processed with GIMP photo editor using each image as a layer for red, green andContinue reading “Today I’ve been making some (really) #shittytrichrome, 03 December 2022”

Today I’ve been experimenting with #trichrome, 26 November 2022

I’ve had some red, green and blue filters knocking around for ages, but never got around to using them. Today I thought I would try some digital trichromes with the Nikon Coolpix 990, a 3MP digital camera from the year 2000. First of all I set the camera to the ‘Rec M’ setting which rememberedContinue reading “Today I’ve been experimenting with #trichrome, 26 November 2022”

Lo-Fi: Taking the broken mirrorless camera and the experimental lens kit to Aveiro, 18 June 2022

After a test run yesterday it was time to take the Olympus Pen E-PL1 and the Lomography Experimental Lens Kit to Aveiro.  My experiment was short-lived. After four or five nice photos, just enough to whet my appetite, the camera died. Thankfully it was just the battery and I’m all charged up for a possibleContinue reading “Lo-Fi: Taking the broken mirrorless camera and the experimental lens kit to Aveiro, 18 June 2022”

Lo-Fi: A test run with the broken mirrorless camera and the experimental lens kit, 17 June 2022

A test run in the woods with the Olympus Pen E-PL1 and the Lomography Experimental Lens Kit.  First attempts at in-camera multiple exposures and image stacking (and one failed microclick ‘panorama’).

Lo-Fi: The broken mirrorless camera and the experimental lens kit

Who on earth would buy a broken mirrorless camera? I picked up this Olympus Pen E-PL1 from Kamerastore with broken image stabilization. I wasn’t looking for anything perfect but I recently discovered the Lomography Experimental Lens kit and it looks like it might be an interesting project. I’m thinking freelensing and a possible future conversionContinue reading “Lo-Fi: The broken mirrorless camera and the experimental lens kit”
